KOLKATA: In a dramatic turn of events, Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC) head coach Yan Law resigned from his post hours after guiding his team to a dominant 4-1 victory over ARA FC in the I-League qualifiers at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Sunday. "I am definitely hurt.

There were too many issues and troubles off the pitch. I was looking forward to taking this team to the I-League. But things changed very quickly, it was getting messy. So it was better for me to resign and I wish them all the best ahead," Yan told TOI.
Later, the club issued a statement announcing they have parted ways with the coach.
Earlier in the day, MSC displayed a superb performance to bag their second straight victory of the campaign. Abhishek Rijal (21, 45) scored a brace while Willis Plaza (13) and Sk Faiaz (89) were also on target for the home side.
ARA, on the other hand, were lucky as an own goal by Safiul Rahman (54) put the visitors on the scoresheet.
MSC started the match brilliantly when Vanlalbiaa Chhangte raced down the right flank to serve a pin-point cross to Plaza, who made no mistake in tapping the ball in to give his side the crucial lead.
Minutes later, the home side doubled the advantage when Abhishek scored from a close-range. Just at the stroke of halftime, MSC added their third when Abhishek slammed home his second goal.

After the change of ends, ARA got an unexpected goal when MSC defender Safiul's attempted clearance went into the net.
In the day's second match, FC Bengaluru United bounced back from their opening game loss to beat Garhwal FC 1-0 at the Kalyani Stadium.
