NEW DELHI: Liverpool secured a 2-2 draw against Fulham in a thrilling Premier League encounter at Anfield on Saturday, with Diogo Jota netting a crucial late equaliser for the 10-player home side under Arne Slot's leadership.
The Reds maintained their position atop the league standings with 36 points, having one match in hand following the postponed fixture against Everton last week.
Fulham struck first in the 11th minute when Andreas Pereira executed a skilful volley from Antonee Robinson's delivery, which deflected off Andy Robertson's leg before beating Alisson.
The situation worsened for Liverpool when Robertson received a straight red card moments later for a dangerous challenge on Harry Wilson, which prevented a clear scoring opportunity.
After the break, Cody Gakpo brought Liverpool level in the 47th minute, converting Mohamed Salah's precise cross with a diving header from close range.
However, Fulham regained the lead in the 76th minute through Rodrigo Muniz, who scored from Robinson's cross whilst colliding with Alisson.
The hosts persevered, and their efforts were rewarded when Jota found the net in the 86th minute, helping Liverpool avoid what would have been only Slot's second defeat in 23 matches as manager across all competitions.
