Jonjo Shelvey

Jonjo Shelvey for Swansea City vs Aston Villa (h), April 26: Shelvey took his cue from Rooney a month later with an equally jaw-dropping lob in a 4-1 win at home to Aston Villa. Visiting captain Ron Vlaar mishit a clearance straight to Shelvey, who was standing inside the centre circle, and he killed the ball on his chest before sharply readjusting his feet and fading an exquisite half-volley over goalkeeper Brad Guzan and into the top-right corner. Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney for Manchester United vs West Ham United (a), March 22: Having threatened to score a spectacular long-range lob from the earliest days of his Manchester United career, Rooney finally achieved the feat during a 2-0 win at West Ham. After Ashley Young hoisted a ball down United's right flank, Rooney subtly eased West Ham centre-back James Tomkins out of the way on the halfway line before looking up and sending a looping lob over back-pedalling goalkeeper Adrian from all of 57 yards. Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez for Liverpool vs Norwich City (h), December 4: Player of the season Suarez plundered four goals in a 5-1 rout of Norwich and while the Uruguayan's 15th-minute opener was a stunning 40-yard lob, his hat-trick goal was even better. From Raheem Sterling's volleyed lay-off, Suarez cantered down the inside-left channel and mischievously flicked the ball over visiting midfielder Leroy Fer before drilling a ferocious half-volley inside the right-hand post from just inside the area. Pajtim Kasami

Pajtim Kasami for Fulham vs Crystal Palace (a), October 21: Macedonia-born Swiss midfielder Kasami had been at Fulham for over two years without making much of an impression until he scored a breath-taking goal in a 4-1 win at Crystal Palace. With Fulham trailing to an early Adrian Mariappa header, the 21-year-old controlled Sascha Riether's lofted pass on his chest on the right-hand apex of the area before crashing a sensational volley into the top-left corner. Jack Wilshere

Jack Wilshere for Arsenal vs Norwich City (h), October 19: England midfielder Wilshere started and finished one of the most dazzling team moves of the Arsene Wenger era to set Arsenal on their way to a 4-1 win over Norwich. Picking up the ball well inside his own half, Wilshere sprayed a pass wide to Kieran Gibbs on the Arsenal left. Gibbs advanced down the wing and slipped the ball inside to Santi Cazorla, who exchanged passes with Wilshere before sliding a pass forwards for Olivier Giroud. The French striker flicked the ball inside to the onrushing Wilshere with the outside of his left foot, Wilshere instinctively guided it back to him, and when Giroud dinked a pass into the area, Wilshere ran through to volley past goalkeeper John Ruddy with his right foot.
