Who is Zeno in Resident Evil Requiem
Resident Evil Requiem has delivered beyond expectations, and fans across the globe are showering their love for it. But there is one thing that fans are wondering about, and it is none other than Zeno. Zeno has made his debut in Resident Evil Requiem as an antagonist, and he shares a striking resemblance with Albert Wesker.
Zeno even carries the exact grooming style as Albert Wesker, which includes the slicked back hairstyle, cool sunglasses/shades, and impeccable drip. Having said that, it raises a question regarding Zeno being a wannabe Wesker. Well, this article intends to clarify the queries with regard to Zeno’s character in Resident Evil Requiem.
Warning: This article contains spoilers
As already specified, Zeno shares an uncanny resemblance to Wesker, but other than that, he also shares similar abilities to Wesker. For instance, he can move at super speed, is able to dodge bullets, and above all of that, Zeno prefers using handguns to wipe out his opponents.
Despite the similarities that Zeno shares with Albert Wesker, Resident Evil Requiem doesn’t establish a direct connection between these two characters. But considering the physical resemblance and similarity, it can be said that Zeno is a clone of Albert Wesker.
There is a possibility that Connections is behind the creation of Zeno. The Connections are the nefarious group, who were first introduced in Resident Evil 7. They operate from the shadows and are considered even more sinister than Umbrella. In the game, Zeno mentions quite a lot about being a part of the Connections.
Having said that, the Connections could have used Umbrella’s own research facilities to create new Bioweapons, including clones, made from Wesker’s genetic material. That explains why Victor Gideon, a former Umbrella researcher, states in his remark that Zeno is just a mere imitation. But it's worth asking why no one knows about it yet, or maybe the Connections have kept this information under wraps.
As there is no official confirmation shared by Capcom regarding Zeno’s character, it can be assumed that he is a clone, a pale imitation or a completely different individual. Yes, it's true that he is the spitting image of Albert Wesker and also shares similar attributes to him. But the assumption of him being a clone might be an exaggeration, since Resident Evil Requiem have not given any particular hint about it.
So, there are certain possibilities that Zeno is a completely different individual who has somehow managed to survive the atrocious outbreak of Raccoon City in 1998. However, regardless of his origins, Zeno is simply a character who is meant to pay homage to the original Albert Wesker in the game. It can be noticed in the game that Zeno sustains unnatural mutations on his skin, which are visible on his face and neck. These dark bruises on his skin are akin to those seen on Leon, who we know is suffering from Raccoon City Syndrome.
