NetEase Games has altered the current
ban system in Marvel Rivals that bans players for leaving matches. Before the modification, this system used to ban players from getting into matches for 15 minutes after the player leaves. However, the recent modification imposes this ban the next time the player logs back into the game.
Marvel Rivals is a 6v6 hero-shooter with team-play and team coordination being a core aspect of the game. When a player leaves a game, it's almost certain that the team will suffer defeat. This is not ideal for competitive play and ruins the experience for everyone in that lobby. As such, NetEase Games has promised to take a solid stance against disruptive behaviour like game abandonment and cheating.
In this article, we will discuss the new modifications to the Marvel Rivals ban system for game abandonment.
New Marvel Rivals ban system severely punishes players for game abandonment
A Reddit user, ttyler1789 posted in the Marvel Rivals community notifying everyone of the slight modification implemented to the current ban system in Marvel Rivals. This system bans players from getting into matches for 15 minutes after leaving a game mid-match. The modification to this system is that this ban isn’t imposed immediately, but only takes effect the next time the player logs back into the game. This means when the ban is imposed on a new session after restarting the game.
The community is welcoming this change to the ban system in Marvel Rivals. It severely punishes players for leaving a game. Players who abandon a match often quit the game right after, and thus the 15 minutes doesn’t punish the player in any way. Now players will be banned from queueing for a match the next time they log back into the game. This can be quite annoying for the player who just loaded up the game to hop into a new match, making it an actual punishment for game abandonment.
Downsides of the new ban system in Marvel Rivals
Despite the effectiveness of this new system, many players are reporting that this punishment can feel quite severe, especially for those who get disconnected from matches due to crashes, bugs, or network issues. Players are demanding that the autonomous ban system be able to distinguish between different game abandonment reasons. Getting punished for a game crash is unreasonable and needs to be addressed by NetEase Games.
