Elaborating on the Roadmap Ahead for the game, Marvel Rivals creative director GuangGuang said that the primary motive for the game is to “fulfill everyone's fantasies about Marvel superheroes”. With over 80,000 characters existing in the Marvel Multiverse, there is no shortage of new heroes that could be implemented into the game. As such, the developers plan to keep the excitement alive for the game by releasing a new hero every month instead of the earlier planning of a new hero every 1.5 months.

Marvel Rivals will shift to two-month season format

NetEase Games will be shortening the length of every season. Starting from Marvel Rivals Season 3 onwards, every season will last two months only. This will effectively keep the players anticipating upcoming content, and thus keeping the game trending at all times. This clever marketing strategy could put immense pressure on the development team as they now have to design a new character every month. But with NetEase Game’s track record, there’s no doubt they could pull it off.
Here’s what Marvel Rivals creative director GuangGuang said about the the game’s Roadmap ahead:“After intensive internal discussions and thorough evaluations we've decided that starting from Season 3, the seasons will shift to a two-month format, with a new hero debuting each month. Additionally related systems will be adjusted accordingly and we will provide detailed insights before the launch of Season 3. With our goal of keeping the audience's excitement alive just like our opening months, the real adventure with Marvel Rivals is just beginning.NetEase Games has promised 10 years plus support for the game and with recent announcements they are only setting up the foundations for a long-running live service game.
