After a lot of anticipation, NetEase Games has finally announced the release date of Marvel Rivals Season 2.5. Fans have been eagerly awaiting this mid-season refresh, because Season 2 wasn’t able to quench their thirst in terms of quality content.
Season 2 brought the Chrono Shield Cards, which stirred huge controversy among Marvel Rivals fans. This in-game item was supposed to ease the pressure of the lower ranked players, instead went on to allegedly make the ranked mode more casual.

NetEase Games has recently released the Dev Vision Video Vol 0.6 where it was revealed that Season 2.5 in Marvel Rivals is going to launch on May 30, 2025. The developers also talked about the upcoming content in the update, along with potential buffs and nerfs of the characters in the game.
There is no doubt that the main highlight of this update has to be
Ultron’s arrival in the game as a playable character. There have been several rumors around the internet regarding this formidable villain’s entry in the game. Now, those rumors actually come out to be true. Ultron is going to play the role of a Strategist and will have healing abilities for him and his allies. Ultron will also pair up with Iron Man for an advanced Uni-Beam team-up ability.
Besides revealing information about Ultron, the developers went on to shed light on the upcoming nerfs and buffs on the characters of the game. Doctor Strange, The Punisher, Storm, Squirrel Girl , and Magneto will get their respective buffs.
On the other hand, Groot, Captain America, The Thing, Namor, Emma Frost, Iron Fist, Mister Fantastic, Psylocke, and Human Torch will be nerfed. However, the developers didn’t go into details about which abilities of these heroes are going to be nerfed and buffed.
The Season 2.5 update will also introduce numerous brand new team-up abilities, like Jeff the Land Shark will receive two new team-up abilities with Venom and Storm respectively, where the former ability will heal teammates, and the later one will combine their respective Ultimate abilities.
