WWE 2K25 introduces
The Island, a new multiplayer mode where up to 50 players can explore and compete in WWE-themed districts. While this mode expands the game's online experience, it's not available for PC, PS4, or Xbox One. Here’s how you can play The Island with friends on supported platforms.
Setting up an online match in WWE 2K25
To play online with friends, go to
The Island mode and access the
"Who’s Online" section in the menu. From here, invite friends who are currently online and in an active session. You can also find nearby players and issue direct challenges.
Alternatively, you can join matchmaking portals scattered throughout the districts. These portals match you with other players in PvP battles. Winning matches earns XP, VC, and in-game rewards that contribute to your ranking.
To manually challenge a friend:
- Open the Who’s Online menu by pressing the Down button on the D-Pad.
- Select a friend and choose "Invite to a Match."
- To accept an invite, press R1/RB to navigate to Match Invites and confirm.
There are five ranking tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Losing matches lowers your rank, while winning moves you up.
Playing locally in WWE 2K25
For couch multiplayer, you need multiple controllers connected to your console or PC.
- From the home screen, select "Play."
- Choose your match type and number of wrestlers.
- In the lobby, assign controllers to each available slot.
- Start the match.
Local play supports various match types, including
One on One,
Triple Threat, and
Fatal 4-Way. MyGM mode with friends
MyGM allows online and local multiplayer. In local play, you can:
- Use custom GMs.
- Spectate matches.
- Draft custom rosters.
For online play, select
"Play Online", create a lobby, and invite friends. If you're playing locally, use the
Add Player panels to assign controllers. Any remaining slots can be filled with AI.
WWE 2K25 adds new MyGM multiplayer features, such as loading online saves locally and letting players take over AI-controlled GMs.
The Island’s multiplayer experience
The Island is a massive multiplayer hub with four districts:
| District | Theme |
|---|
| Hero HQ | Heroes vs. villains |
| Arcade of Tomorrow | Pop culture & gaming |
| Temple of Ancestors | Lucha libre & wrestling legends |
| The Deadlands | Horror & supernatural themes |
Each district features a unique arena where players can enter PvP matches.
To invite a friend to The Island:
- Open the Who’s Online menu.
- Select a friend and invite them to your session.
- Join an arena in one of the districts for a match.
PC players can’t access The Island at launch. It’s exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Customizing your MySUPERSTAR
Before stepping into The Island, create a wrestler using the MySUPERSTAR Builder. Choose attributes like:
- Gender
- Background
- Archetype
- Weight Class
Progression in The Island affects other game modes. Earn XP and VC from matches to level up, unlock badges, and improve your character.
Customization options include licensed gear from brands like:
- Nike
- Jordan
- Puma
- WWE Shop
Once unlocked, cosmetics can be used in other WWE 2K25 modes.
WWE 2K25 expands multiplayer gameplay with The Island, but its exclusivity to newer consoles leaves many players out. For those with access, the mode offers an open-world WWE experience, blending single-player progression with online PvP. Whether you’re competing in ranked matches, teaming up with friends, or grinding through quests, The Island adds a new dimension to the WWE 2K series.
