“A Ship of Gold” in Disney Dreamlight Valley is one dreamy, dazzling quest, and we’re breaking it all down for you. This quest takes you treasure-hunting, magic-style. You’ll unlock this shiny adventure after finishing “The Shadows on the Wall” and befriending The Forgotten. Here's everything you need to know.
Step 1: Activate the “A Ship of Gold” Quest
First things first: finish “Shadows on the Wall.” No cap, this is a must. Once that’s done, the “A Ship of Gold” quest will pop up. Now head through that mysterious gate. You’ll find yourself inside Skull Rock. Climb up to spot some barrels and a glowing rock. Talk to The Forgotten and get ready for some magical chaos.
Step 2: Smash the Glowing Rock
Climb up the rocky platform inside the newly unlocked gate. Look around for some barrels and a strange glowing rock. Smash the glowing rock (yes, with your tool), and, boom, you’ll release a floating Pixie Dust Orb. Also, don't miss the Rope Winch lying right behind it. Pocket that. Talk to The Forgotten, who’ll not-so-subtly hint that Pixie Dust makes things fly.
Step 3: Chase the Orb
Head back to the Skull Rock entrance and chase the Pixie Dust Orb — it floats behind a closed gate. Place the Rope Winch on the nearby mechanism (left of the gate). It opens right up. Now run after the orb while scooping up Pixie Dust as it drops little sparkles. Destroy rocks if they block your way. The goal? Catch that orb and collect enough dust to do something BIG.
Step 4: Make That Pirate Ship Fly
Got enough dust? Awesome. Now, walk over to the very grounded pirate ship. Interact with it and sprinkle your hard-earned Pixie Dust. The ship will literally start to float, forming a bridge to the next area. You’re basically building a flight path out of fairy glitter.
Step 5: Solve the Skull Rock Barrel Puzzle
On the other side, you’ll find barrels with weird symbols. Puzzle time. Here's the cheat sheet:
- Bell barrel: Rotate 2x
- Pixie barrel: Rotate 4x
- Shadow barrel: Rotate 4x
- Sewing Needle barrel: Rotate 2x
- Clock barrel: Rotate 4x
- Hook barrel: Rotate 2x
Match the pairs. Easy peasy.
Step 6: Grab the Key & Finish Strong
Solving the puzzle drops a gold key. Snag it, hop aboard the floating pirate ship, and unlock the Captain’s Cabin. Inside, grab another Rope Winch, place it near the last closed gate, and boom — you’re DONE. This also kicks off the next quest: “The Music’s on the Walls.”
