In the promo video for Varesa titled "Varesa: Pre-Tournament Prep," eagle-eyed fans spotted a very brief appearance from a mysterious character. Her full identity remains unconfirmed, shown only from behind; close-up details of her appearance have sent the community into buzz-mode.
Long blonde hair peeking out from beneath a chef's hat, wearing a burgundy outfit, carrying a rather prominent Cryo Vision dangling from her headwear-these elements have caused many to suspect this is one Escoffier, the Cryo chef rumored about for a long time and since a very long time a fan favorite. The design closely matches a silhouette of the Escoffier character teased by HoYoverse months ago, giving this theory some backbone. Considering Cryo abilities, this has fans hopeful he is on the verge of joining the game.
While Varesa's launch is anticipated to be Version 5.5's center stage, Escoffier's inclusion in the trailer suggests that HoYoverse might be setting the stage for subsequent updates. This entry of Escoffier might also come as an important one for the Cryo element of Genshin Impact, since leaks seem to insinuate that she might have extremely strong synergy with Cryo and Hydro characters. If indeed true, she would become a much-requisite boon to Cryo characters: something like how Xilonen indeed elevated the Geo element by banking on the excellent support it had.
