Everything you need to know about the Skill System in Nioh 3
Nioh 3's skill system has added another layer of strategy to the game. It is a completely separate mechanic from the Martial Arts tree, and you need to understand how it works to maximize your character's potential.
The game features two distinct types of skills: active combat skills and passive bonus abilities. To ensure that you don’t get confused while using them, here is a detailed guide on the skill system in Nioh 3.
Each of these categories have their own capacity limit and requires specific memorandums to increase capacity. Accordingly, you can increase their capability by finding the Ninja's Memorandum, Samurai's Memorandum, and Warrior's Memorandum.
You can unlock skills from Secret Skills Texts, which can be found when you loot corpses or chests. Additionally, you also have the option to purchase skills to learn from the friendly yokai if you have enough Yokai Teardrops.
Coming to equipping the skills, you can simply head to a shrine and select the Skill Management option. After you click that option, you need to activate them. Your character will subsequently have those passive bonuses.
To increase capacity, you can pray at a Shrine or a Bodhisatva Statue. A more reliable way to get a Memorandum is by exchanging Yokai Teardrops with the merchant. You can gather Yokai Teardrops in many ways, including defeating formidable enemies, defeating the Kappa enemy, bathing in a hot spring, petting friendly yokai like Scampuss, and so on.
Other than the skills specified above, especially powerful skills in Nioh 3 are called Mastery skills. You can only equip 1 of them at a time. These provide excellent perks, but they occupy your full mastery slot.
To put it simply, creating an effective character in Nioh 3 requires an understanding of the talent system. Your gameplay can be improved by using passive skills, as they will provide you with special effects, defensive buffs, and damage boosts.
