Director confirms Resident Evil Requiem mini game coming on May, also, extra story content is in development
Resident Evil Requiem has been one of the most successful releases of 2026, and it has managed to captivate the entire gaming community. Just weeks after its release, Capcom has officially confirmed that there is more post-launch content in the works, including a Story Expansion.
Essentially, RE9 Director Akifumi Nakanishi took to social media to thank the community and drop the massive news. Besides a Story Expansion, there is also going to be a brand-new mini-game arriving in May, ensuring that the player base remains engaged while waiting for the DLC.
The section below provides all the details regarding Resident Evil Requiem’s Story Expansion and mini-game.
In a special video message posted to the official Resident Evil social media handles, RE9 Director Akifumi Nakanishi expressed his immense gratitude to the fanbase before surprising viewers by holding up a piece of paper that read: "Story Expansion Now in Development".
He gave a brief explanation about the DLC, without revealing any specific plot details or which character will be taking the lead. However, most importantly, he added that the DLC will allow players to "delve even deeper into the world of Resident Evil Requiem".
Given that Capcom has specifically used the term "story expansion," the fanbase has started cooking up theories regarding what potentially awaits them. Many believe that the DLC could explore the aftermath of the main campaign's events. On the other hand, others speculate that the expansion could focus on the backstory of other legacy characters.
It is important to note that there is no exact date for the Resident Evil Requiem DLC at the time of writing, and Nakanishi stated that it will require "a little wait."
Another major part of the reveal was Nakanishi holding up a piece of artwork titled "Forbidden Requiem". The image depicted Leon S. Kennedy with a romantic interest. This has sent the fans into a frenzy, and there have been speculations that Capcom could explore the same as part of the Resident Evil Requiem DLC.
Regardless, with stability patches, new modes, and a massive narrative expansion on the horizon, Capcom is ensuring that the nightmare is far from over.
