Leonida region, fans are wondering: could hurricanes or other natural disasters be part of the experience? While it may sound like a stretch, there’s actually a lot of evidence to suggest Rockstar could be teasing big weather events, possibly even full-scale hurricanes.

Rockstar doesn’t place things in their trailers by accident. In
Trailer 2, eagle-eyed fans spotted a wall sign referencing “Hurricane Roxy” and a flood gauge in the background. These small visual details hint that natural disasters might be more than just aesthetic, possibly real, scripted events in the story.
Even more telling? Palm trees in some scenes are staked into the ground, something typically done to prepare for high winds. It may be subtle, but when you add it all up, Rockstar seems to be dropping breadcrumbs that hurricanes could play a role in GTA 6.
Oh, and remember that cheeky news headline from Trailer 1?
- “Leonida man sucked up in waterspout demands city buy him a new suit.”
That’s Rockstar humor, sure, but also lowkey a tease. Waterspouts are like mini tornados over water, and that’s not something you code into a game
for no reason.
Rockstar's Been Prepping for This
This isn’t the first time Rockstar’s flirted with natural disasters. Back in the OG Vice City, the story literally starts with a hurricane keeping you locked on one island. They didn’t have the tech to render it back then, but they definitely
thought about it.
Scripted Storms Over Random Chaos?
Rockstar probably won’t let a Category 5 hurricane just roll in during a chill session of GTA Online. That would be… a
lot. But imagine this instead:
You and Lucia are prepping a high-stakes heist. Timing is everything. A storm’s rolling in. Streets are flooding, visibility drops, power's out—you ride jet skis through downtown Leonida because the roads are underwater. Insane? Yes. Epic? Also yes.
That kind of scripted chaos? 100% Rockstar’s vibe. And in GTA Online, a special hurricane event, like snow during Christmas in GTA V, would be awesome. Even smaller hurricanes or tropical storms that knock out power or change the landscape temporarily could shake up missions, give new looting opportunities, or mess with cops’ AI.
Will hurricanes be part of the regular weather in GTA 6? Probably not. But will Rockstar use one for an unforgettable story mission or Online event? Bet on it. Because if there’s one thing we know, it’s this: Rockstar doesn’t just build cities. They build experiences. And nothing screams next-gen mayhem like outrunning the cops during a hurricane.
