Grounded 2 is the Prophecy continuation of Obsidian Entertainment’s survival game. The game brings players back into the thrill of surviving the backyard, but this time with better ways to play and perform together. If you are dodging giant bugs, goofing around in the game, or building a comfortable base, multiplayer is a huge part of the fun. Even though it makes the co-op experience game even more advanced, it induces a lower burden to be linked and explore with the squad. In case you don't know how to get to the multiplayer mode in Grounded 2, here is what you should know to go to the land of survival in the wild backyard hand in hand.
How to play with friends in Grounded 2
Joining or hosting multiplayer in Grounded 2
Grounded 2 supports both online and local multiplayer, where you can play with up to three players, whether you are on Xbox or PC:
Host a game:
- From the main menu, select Multiplayer.
- Choose Host Online Game.
- Create a new world or select an existing one.
- Send an invite to friends via your platform’s friend system (Xbox Live or Steam).
- Once connected, your friends will join you in your world.
Join a friend’s game:
- Head to the Join Online Game option from the menu.
- Look for your friend’s hosted session under the list of availability, or join directly through an invitation.
- Your progress is saved within the host’s world. The character progression might not be carried over depending on the settings.
Shared worlds vs. hosted sessions
Grounded 2 presents a new feature called Shared Worlds, which holds flexibility between sessions:
Shared world:
- The information is stored in the cloud so it can be accessed readily even when the host is not online.
- Anybody can host it or join at any one time.
- Perfect to play through whenever through different time zones or schedules
Hosted session:
- This session is available only when the first host is online.
- Increases in levels of control but also decreases in levels of flexibility.
Cross-platform and communication support:
- Grounded 2 is fully supported for cross-play between PC and Xbox platforms.
- Built-in voice chat helps with good in-game coordination, or third-party services like Discord also work; it's just your preference.
- Just make sure everyone has a stable internet connection to avoid any lag or disconnections, which may mess up the game.
The Grounded 2 multiplayer will reinforce the co-operation aspect of exploration and survival. Regardless of hosting a game, joining another participant's game, or a debut into a shared world, it is easy and simple to do. Featuring cross-platform functionality, cloud-based worlds, and making sure that you and your friends will always find time to enjoy the adventure together, Grounded 2 has something of value to offer to everyone.
