Is Fortnite down? v39.40 update, maintenance schedule and more

The upcoming Fortnite v39.40 update is all set to be released on February 5, 2026. As part of this patch, the servers will be taken down for maintenance, and you will not be able to play the game during the downtime.
This downtime is pretty important, and the developers need the same to implement all the new content into the game, including the Valentine’s Day events, balance changes, and more. Fortnite v39.40 update maintenance schedule

As already specified above, the maintenance for the Fortnite v39.40 update is starting at 4:00 AM ET on February 5, 2026. It is expected that the downtime will last 2 hours, and the servers will subsequently be back online at 6:00 AM ET. You won't be able to play the game during the maintenance, given that the matchmaking will be disabled.
Once the maintenance is finished, you can enjoy the new content from the v39.40 update, such as the Valentine's Day event, Chappell Roan Festival cosmetics, and K-Pop Demon Hunters Wave 2.
