Fortnite skins and KPop superstars Demon Hunters receive an Oscar nomination for their song "Golden"

Netflix's animated sensation and Fortnite skins, KPop Demon Hunters, have secured two prestigious nominations at the 2026 Academy Awards. This is quite a historic milestone for the streaming platform.

Essentially, the film ended up earning nominations for the categories Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for its breakthrough track, "Golden." This has cemented its status as one of the most successful animated releases of the year.

Who are KPop Demon Hunters?

KPop Demon Hunters was released in June 2025, and it follows global K-pop superstars Rumi, Mira, and Zoey. The characters essentially lead secret double lives as demon hunters, protecting their fans from supernatural threats.




They are known collectively as Huntr/x, and the trio uses the power of music to battle soul-eating demons. As a result, it creates a wonderful blend of pop spectacle with fantasy action, making it quite engaging.

Coming to their Oscar-nominated song "Golden," it is performed by Huntr/x and features vocals from EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami. The track was written by EJAE alongside Mark Sonnenblick, DO, and Teddy Park.

Within the film, "Golden" is played in a pivotal emotional moment, which has the group attempting to seal the Golden Honmoon. The Golden Honmoon acts as a barrier to permanently shut demons out of their world. The scene additionally showcases a major twist about lead singer Rumi's identity, adding to the overall depth of the storyline.
