— Women's Premier League (WPL) (@wplt20) 1679840231000We are looking to bowl first, toss is not going to affect us. I think the wicket will swing, it looks hard. We need to stay positive, the last game was important and we got a lot of confidence after that. They have a good batting line-up, we need to bowl well tonight. We are going with the same XI.
We are going to bat. It looks like a good wicket, we are backing ourselves tonight. We had a good time, relaxed for a few days. We are up against Mumbai tonight. Spin has played a big role here. The bowlers have been effective throughout the tournament.
(On qualifying directly to the final) I think it gave us more rest, since we’ve been playing back-to-back games so everyone rested well and had a good team practice session together. Good to go for the final. Depends on how you take the break, since we have been playing back-to-back all the girls wanted a break. I got to spend some time with my family since we are playing here in Mumbai. Everyone has come back refreshed and there is more energy and passion to go out there and perform today. (On her batting position) Honestly, I’m just happy to go out there and help my team win wherever I play. I tell myself that whenever I get an opportunity I need to make sure I get the job done for my team, need to do what is expected of me. I think it is a fresh start everyday, so we’ll try to keep it simple, stick to our process and we know if we execute well we can get the job done. (On difference between Lanning and Kaur’s captaincy) I think they are different leaders, but very experienced and very passionate about their game. Harmanpreet is more aggressive, she loves to take charge and make sure the girls are pumped up. Meg is much calmer and she likes to back the bowlers and tell them what to do. They are contrasting captains but both very effective.
Opening with Hayley is always fun and very enjoyable because it’s good to watch sixes from the other end. She’s very supportive and tells me to play my natural game, and not do anything silly. She compliments me by giving us a left hand, right hand combination. (On training with Kiran More) I have been training with him for a year, and it has helped a lot to work on my collection and my movement. I think keeping assists my batting and I get to know the wicket, and vice-versa as well since I’m an opening batter. She creates a very positive environment, backs me a lot to go and open whatever the result and give a positive performance.
