India vs West Indies: Windies bowling coach laments inexperience in the team

West Indies' bowling coach Corey Collymore was still optimistic about his team's chances in the series. "As a group, we have come here to win, doesn't matter if you are No. 1 or No. 8, so yes, that's what we are here to do," he said.

RAJKOT: West Indies' bowling coach Corey Collymore feels that the inexperience in their bowling line-up allowed India to take control of the Test match on the first two days.

"India have depth in batting, whereas ours is an inexperienced bowling line-up. Plus, losing our captain Jason Holder on the first day and Kemar Roach going back home was a big loss for us. We have young Sherman Lewis and Keemo Paul, one making his debut and the other playing only his second Test."
The Barbadian added: "We were not too defensive.

If you look at the score, India were always scoring at five runs an over. And with an inexperienced bowling attack, you had to go on the defensive and try to stop them from scoring too quickly.
"Yesterday (Thursday) was a very hard day. I think the sub-continent is a tough place for any fast bowler, even with experience. I think that's the reason the captain had to rotate them a bit more today to give them a little bit of a chance. They were still feeling the effects from yesterday. Playing the No. 1 team, one of the best batting line-ups in the world, isn't easy for them," the former speedster added.
Collymore was still optimistic about his team's chances in the series. "As a group, we have come here to win, doesn't matter if you are No. 1 or No. 8, so yes, that's what we are here to do," he said.
"I always see it that way but you have to be honest with yourself. India have a huge advantage and it is only Day Two, so it will take a mammoth effort for us to pull it back," he said when asked if his boys have a chance to save the Test.
