Run machine Virat Kohli (166* off 110 balls) put up an absolute masterclass, slamming his 46th ODI ton as he powered India to an imposing 390 for five against Sri Lanka in the third and final ODI in Thiruvananthapuram. Along with Kohli, young opener Shubman Gill (116) also fired up his second ton in the one-dayers as India batters decimated the Lankan bowlers in the inconsequential final match of the series. Opting to bat after winning the toss, Rohit Sharma and Gill started off superbly but the skipper fell for 42 in the 16th over. After the departure of Rohit, Kohli and Gill took over and added 131 runs for the second wicket. In the proccess, Gill got to his second century but fell shortly after that. Kohli, at the other end, looked in sublime touch as he continued to score over run-a-ball throughout. The maestro along with Shreyas Iyer raked up another century partnership as a hapless Lankan bowling attack was taken to all corners of the park. Kohli then brought up his second century of the series off just 85 balls. Along with that he also became the fifth highest scorer ever in the ODIs surpassing legendary Mahela Jayawardhane. After his ton in the 46th over, Kohli went out all guns blazing, scoring his next 66 runs off 25 balls. KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav fell cheaply, trying to get as many runs as possible in the death overs. However, unstoppable Kohli ensured that he took India to a formidable total.

He and Axar Patel collect 18 runs ion the final over from Lahiru Kumara and India finish at 390 for 5 in their 50 overs in this third and final match of the series. Final 2 overs to go as Suryakumar Yadav and centurion Virat Kohli are in the middle for India. Lahiru Kumara managed the wicket of KL Rahul in his 9th over as he was trying to go for the runs. Gill was given the opportunity at the top after Shikhar Dhawan's indifferent form and he has grabbed the opportunity with both hands. 191 runs in the series so far.
