South Africa name 15-man squad for India Tests; Temba Bavuma to captain: Full squad inside
With just three weeks remaining before the India vs South Africa Test series gets underway in India, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced its 15-member squad. The Proteas have opted for minimal changes from their recent Test series against Pakistan, signalling continuity and confidence in their core group.
There are only three changes to the side that faced Pakistan earlier this year. Regular skipper Temba Bavuma returns to lead the team after missing the previous series due to injury.
Off-spinner Prenelan Subrayen and seamer David Beginham have been left out of the squad, making way for the returning Bavuma.
The announcement marks an important phase for South Africa as they prepare to take on India in subcontinental conditions — a challenge that has historically tested their batting and spin resilience.
The selectors have chosen a balanced combination of experienced campaigners and promising young talents, aiming to build momentum in the new World Test Championship cycle.
The batting lineup features Aiden Markram, Ryan Rickelton, Tony de Zorzi, and Zubayr Hamza, supported by the exciting youngster Dewald Brevis, who continues to earn the selectors’ trust across formats.
Kyle Verreynne is expected to take wicketkeeping duties, while Tristan Stubbs adds firepower in the middle order.
The all-round department includes Wiaan Mulder, Corbin Bosch, and Marco Jansen, offering balance between pace and control. South Africa’s formidable bowling unit will be led by Kagiso Rabada, with Keshav Maharaj, Senuran Muthusamy, and Simon Harmer forming a strong spin contingent.
