Marco Jansen to Aiden Markram, TWO LEG BYES! Hard length again, this time around middle and leg, Markram fails to get it away and the ball thuds into the pads, rolling away behind square leg. The batters do well to pinch a couple of runs.
Marco Jansen to Aiden Markram, Top comeback from Jansen! Similar to the last ball of the previous over, on a hard length around the top of off and middle. This one threatens to shape away but straightens and zips past the outside edge.
Marco Jansen to Aiden Markram, FOUR! Wrong line to begin with from Jansen! Just short of a length and down leg, Markram clips it away fine and off the hips towards fine leg for the first boundary of the chase.
It is the tall, lanky Protea, Marco Jansen, who will share the attack from the far end.
Arshdeep Singh to Mitchell Marsh, Oh, a peach of a delivery to end the first over, just 3 off it! On a hard length, over the top of off and middle, this one wobbles late and just across the batter. Mitchell Marsh gets squared up and beaten past the outside edge.

Arshdeep Singh to Aiden Markram, On the money! Perfect length, around off, cutting back into the right-hander. Aiden Markram looks to give himself room but is cramped quickly and ends up blocking it back to the bowler.
Welcome back for LSG's response with the bat. The official IPL pet, CHAMPAK, leads the way for the two umpires who walk out. Now then, the players of Punjab Kings spread out to the field and take their respective positions. Out walks the opening pair of Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh for Lucknow Super Giants. Marsh has been swapped in as the Impact Sub for Akash Singh. And it will be Arshdeep Singh to open the bowling attack for PBKS. Off we go...
... THE RUN CHASE ...
Right then, 237 is the number that Lucknow Super Giants need to get their 2025 IPL campaign back on track, but it will be a pressure chase, with a lot riding on those top 3 batters. Punjab will know that the ball flies here and even 236 might not be defendable, but they will feel much more comfortable right now. Stick around as the crucial run chase is up next.
Prabhsimran Singh, the star of Punjab's batting innings, is down for a chat. He says that he had full confidence from his last inning, and both the openers, he and Priyansh Arya, are getting good starts, and he is happy that he capitalised on that start today. Mentions that the batters, including him, Shreyas, and Arya, are just trying to hit the ball on merit, and he gives all the credit to the coach, Ricky Ponting, for this approach. States that he just got a chance when he was trying to score as many as in the Powerplay, and luckily, he got a chance, and he is happy that he got a big knock today. Further tells that he took a bit of time in the middle overs when they lost two wickets, but finished well in the end. Says that his mindset has been to play a big knock if he reaches 30-35 runs and help the team to post a big total. They are trying to make sure that one of the three top batters plays a long inning, and luckily, it is happening for them. Ends by saying that he hasn’t seen the dew, and he hopes that it is a good score that they can defend.
Looking at the bowling figures of the LSG bowlers, there is just one bowler who stands out. Even while bowling first, they only had five proper bowlers and it was the incoming Akash Singh who impressed. He picked up Arya early on and then came back to dismiss Inglis as well. However, there was no control in the middle overs, and then the likes of Mayank Yadav and Avesh Khan were hit for 60 and 57 runs respectively in each of their 4 overs. Avesh had an outing to forget with lapses in the field and he conceded 42 runs in his last 2 overs before starting well.
For once, that opening combination for PBKS didn't work out as Priyansh Arya fell in the first over but Prabhsimran Singh and especially Josh Inglis came hard at the LSG bowlers. Inglis lived on the edge and fell inside the Powerplay after a fiery cameo as Singh carried on. Shreyas Iyer joined Prabhsimran and the pair put on 78 runs before Iyer got out a few runs short of his fifty. The incoming batters just kept on striking big from ball one but it was the stand between Prabhsimran and Shashank Singh that really propelled them to a huge total. Singh was unfortunate to have got out in the 90s but he was simply brilliant and Shashank, along with Marcus Stoinis, applied the finishing touches.
That is a brute showing from Punjab Kings with the bat and they have put on a monumental score of 236 runs on the board. It is also their highest score against LSG, and on a ground where PBKS haven't had the best of memories, they have given their bowlers as many runs as they can to defend.
Avesh Khan to Shashank Singh, FOUR! THIS IS PUNJAB KINGS' HIGHEST TOTAL IN DHARAMSALA! Speared in too full, and around off, Shashank Singh shuffles across off and just scoops it over short fine leg for a one-bounce boundary. Marcus Stoinis walks out to bat now.
Digvesh Singh to Prabhsimran Singh, OUT! GONE! CAUGHT! Digvesh Singh gets his second wicket! Prabhsimran Singh falls 9 runs short of his century, but what a wonderful knock from him this! Pitched too fuller and on off, Prabhsimran Singh switches the stance and goes for the reverse, but couldn't keep it along the ground, and just airs it flat and low off the cue end of the bat towards the cover fielder. Nicholas Pooran dives and takes a fine catch. Prabhsimran Singh departs for 91 and Punjab Kings are 216/5.
Digvesh Singh to Shashank Singh, Chance missed? Yes. A difficult one for Pant, though. Flat and quick, sliding across off, on a length, Shashank Singh stands tall to tonk it downtown, but outside edges it. The ball deflects off Pant's gloves and runs to short third. A single taken.

Avesh Khan to Prabhsimran Singh, SIX! INTO THE 90s! A juicy half-volley from Avesh now, around off, Prabhsimran Singh brings the bat through line, and just airs the ball behind long off for a massive six. This also brings up the 50-run stand between these two, in just 16 balls. This is just top drawer batting from PBKS!
Avesh Khan to Prabhsimran Singh, OUTSIDE EDGE, FOUR! Wide of off, just inside the tramline, Prabhsimran Singh shuffles across and tries to carve it into the off side, but gets a thick outside edge and the ball zips through to deep third for a boundary.

Avesh Khan to Shashank Singh, Low full toss, on middle and leg, flicked along the ground to deep mid-wicket for a single.
Avesh Khan to Shashank Singh, EDGED, FOUR! TOTAL CARNAGE! Pitched fuller and outside off, Shashank Singh swings to go over cover but gets a thick outside edge and the ball flies over backward point for a boundary.
Avesh Khan to Shashank Singh, WIDE! Way outside the tramline on the off side. Shashank Singh leaves. Wide called.
Avesh Khan to Shashank Singh, FOUR! What a shot! Fired in fuller, and wide of off, Shashank Singh first shapes to play the scoop shot, but gets a bit too across off, and just adjusts his shot with a reverse ramp for a boundary at deep third. He has made that look so easy. Another first ball of the over and it goes to the fence for PBKS.
Avesh Khan (2-0-15-0) returns to bowl at the death.
Mayank Yadav to Shashank Singh, An attempted yorker, fired as a full ball, on middle, Shashank Singh flicks it over mid-wicket for a single to end the over. An expensive spell of bowling for Mayank Yadav this evening as he goes for 4-0-60-0.
Mayank Yadav to Shashank Singh, Nipping back into the batter, around off, on a length, Shashank Singh cuts it square over backward point for a couple of quick runs. Good work by the fielder, Nicholas Pooran, in the deep to cut it off to his left.
New ball, please! That ball has gone onto the roof and out of the ground, which means that there will be a change of ball now. The fourth umpire brings out a box of balls and the on-field umpires select the one closest in conditions to the previous one.
Mayank Yadav to Shashank Singh, SIX! THAT IS OUTTA HERE! Bangs it into the surface, does Mayank, at 134 kph, Shashank Singh is in the upright position and just pulls it behind deep fine leg for a monstrous six. That's gone over the roof at the HPCA Stadium!

But luckily for him, the ball lands between the two converging fielders and Ravi Bishnoi mops it up with a slide to his left from deep mid-wicket. Two taken.
Mayank Yadav to Shashank Singh, Slower ball, around middle and leg, nipping back in. Shashank Singh is beaten by the lack of pace and the ball bounces over the stumps, going past the inside edge.
Mayank Yadav to Shashank Singh, FOUR! A good start to the over for PBKS! But Avesh Khan makes an absolute mess in the deep to field that ball. Back of a length, angling on the pads, Shashank Singh pulls it behind to the left of deep fine leg, where Avesh Khan is late to react and the ball beats his chase to the boundary.
Prince Yadav to Shashank Singh, Gets the yorker right on the mark, on off, Shashank Singh shovels it out to deep third for a single. 10 off Prince Yadav's final over. He finishes off his spell with figures of 4-0-43-1.
