CHENNAI: The
Pakistan cricket team left for their tour of
England
on Sunday morning. Even before they left for England, the Pakistan team had been hit with a few of their players testing positive for
Coronavirus.
Mohammad Hasnain, Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Hafeez and Wahab Riaz have been the ones testing positive and they will have to test negative to nurse hopes of joining the side. To add to that, other Pakistan cricketers --- Kashif Bhatti, Haris Rauf, Haider Ali and Imran Khan ---have tested positive again for Coronavirus.
Wasim Khan, the chief executive of PCB, via a statement, said, "These players were asymptomatic, which means their chances of regaining complete fitness are higher and brighter than most. As soon as these players test negative twice through the PCB testing process they will be flown to England to join the squad."
On Sunday morning, skipper Babar Azam took to Twitter --- announcing the side's departure for England. "On our way to another historic Pakistan tour to England. Its always great to play in England and I look forward to get on this journey with our talented bunch of players. Fans, as always we would be in need of you prayers, love and unconditional support. #PAKvENG #RiseAndRise," he tweeted.
Pakistan will be playing three Tests and 3 Twenty20s against England, and the series will be played without any spectators.
