Zeeshan's five-wicket haul puts Uttar Pradesh on top

CHENNAI: Young gun Zeeshan Ansari (5 for 112) was the star of the show for Uttar Pradesh as they bowled out Hyderabad for 329 on Day 1 of their Kalpathi AGS Buchi Babu semifinal clash at the Pachaiyappa's College ground on Monday.
The Lucknow-based leggie, who foxed the batsmen with his guile, was well-supported by his teammates Imtiyaz Ahmad (2 for 57) and Saurabh Kumar (2 for 75).
For Hyderabad, Tanmay Agarwal (65), K Sumanth (83) and B Sandeep (84) were the leading contributors. Tanmay and Sumanth were involved in a 145-run stand from 29 overs for the second-wicket that was the highlight of Hyderabad's innings. In reply, Uttar Pradesh were placed at 13 for no loss from 6 overs.
In the other last-four stage encounter between TNCA Districts XI and TNCA President's XI — the former finished with a total of 270 from 86.2 overs. While their batsmen N Jagadeesan (37), J Kousik (39) and Anand Subramanian (26) got starts, they failed to make a substantial contribution.
TNCA Districts XI's ninth-wicket stand of 91 between No 8 Sai Kishore (41) and No 10 R Rohit (52) proved to be the turning point as they helped the side finish with a total in excess of 250.
The duo managed to keep the opposition at bay for 35.1 overs. For the bowling team, Vignesh (3 for 85), Lakshman (2 for 60) and Ashwath Mukunthan (2 for 20) shone with the ball. In reply, TNCA President's XI ended the day at 8 for no loss in 1 over.
