Yashasvi Jaiswal opens up on Asia Cup snub: 'Decisions are in selectors’ hands, I’ll keep working hard'
NEW DELHI: The absence of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s name from India’s squad for the 2025 Asia Cup immediately caught attention, sparking debate among fans and cricket analysts. With Shubman Gill returning as vice-captain and Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson retaining their spots, the 23-year-old opening batter was left out, despite a stellar record in international cricket.

Addressing his omission, Jaiswal remained composed and focused, stating, “I don’t think about it. It’s all in the hands of selectors. The decisions are taken according to the team combination. I will do whatever I can.”
Jaiswal’s record speaks volumes: 723 runs in 23 T20Is at a strike rate of 164.31 and an average of 36.15, including a century and five half-centuries. His Test credentials are equally impressive, with 2,209 runs in 24 matches at an average of 50.20, including six centuries and 12 fifties.
On staying motivated despite the Asia Cup snub, Jaiswal, during a conversation with Mashable India, said, “When my time comes, things will fall into place. I just want to keep working on myself and keep working hard.” He added, “I always had the belief that I would do something big. I will never stop. I will just keep working hard.”
Reflecting on personal milestones, Jaiswal recalled the special moment of scoring a century in front of his parents during the England tour. “It was truly special for me,” he said, highlighting how personal achievements fuel his passion for the game.
Jaiswal also spoke about team aspirations, saying, “My ultimate dream is to make the team win the World Cup. The T20 World Cup win in 2024 was truly special for me. We got such a good welcome in India when we came back home.”
Despite the Asia Cup disappointment, Jaiswal is set to feature in India’s upcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies, beginning October 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

It is sad that we have selectors who are partial, corrupt or do not give justice to the people who deserve. There mean mentality spoils the country name. THERE WAS NO REASON WHY JAISWAL IS NOT IN THE TEAM. HIS PERFORMANCE HAS BEEN FIRST CLASS AS A BATTER. The committee must select people who have open mind, interest of the country first and give justice to who deserve it. If blunders like eliminating batter like Jaiswal is done the concerned selector must be dropped out with a penalty.Read allPost comment
