West Indies

fast bowler Shannon Gabriel feels the visiting pace bowling unit will be holding on to its "successful" plans deployed against England in the 2019 home series in the upcoming three Test series in July.

In a virtual interaction with the media ahead of the first cricket Test series since the outbreak of the coronavirus, Gabriel said, "I don't think the plans should shift too much from what we did in the Caribbean (against England). What we did was successful. I don't think we should be fixing anything that is not broken. "

During the 2019 home series against England, which West Indies won 2-1, the West Indies pace attack, led by Kemar Roach, accounted for 47 out of 55 English wickets to fall, focussing on intimidating the English line up with a mixture of steep bounce and express pace.

Recovering from an ankle injury he sustained during the Test series against India, Gabriel, one of the central figures in the resurgence of West Indian fast bowling since 2017, credited following the "fitness" mantra as a unit as a crucial factor in Windies' improved performance.

"We realised that to be more successful and to use our skills better, we need to be fitter. That, and we kind of feed off each other." Gabriel said.

When suggested that the players will maybe have to be more alert about what they say on the field around the stump mic during the series as there won't be any crowd to drown their voices, Gabriel said he doesn't believe "much will change."

The first Test of the three-match series will be played from 8th July in Southampton, followed by two tests at Old Trafford.
