Kumble achieved the historic feat in the Delhi Test at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground (now Arun Jaitley Stadium) against arch-rivals Pakistan.

Prior to Kumble, England's Jim Laker held the record of dismissing all 10 batsmen in an innings of a Test match, achieving the incredible feat against Australia in 1956.

Kumble bowled 26.3 overs, including 9 maidens, and swept the Pakistan batting line-up in front of a jam-packed stadium. He conceded just 74 runs in his spell.

BCCI shared the video of all the ten dismissals on X to mark the day:

Batting first, India posted 252 on the board. In reply, Pakistan could manage only 174, in their first innings, thanks to a four-wicket burst by Kumble and three-wicket haul by Harbhajan Singh.

In the second innings, Sadagoppan Ramesh's 96 and an unbeaten 62 by Sourav Ganguly took India to 339.

Pakistan made a strong start with a century opening stand between Saeed Anwar and Shahid Afridi before Kumble rattled the arch-rivals' line-up and sent all their 10 batters packing to register his name in the record books as India crushed Pakistan by 212 runs.

In December 2021, New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel became the third bowler in history to take all 10 wickets in an innings.

Ajaz Patel achieved the feat against India in the 2nd Test at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, but could not save his team from defeat as India won by 372 runs.
