NEW DELHI: Pakistani fast bowler Hasan Ali, renowned for his distinctive 'generator' celebration upon taking a wicket, experienced a setback during a T20 Blast 2024 match while playing for Warwickshire against Nottinghamshire.
Ali, in the act of celebrating the dismissal of Olly Stones, sustained an injury to his ribs. This incident is not the first time Ali's celebration has led to an injury; a similar situation occurred in 2018 during Pakistan's tour of Zimbabwe, where he sprained his shoulder following his celebratory move after taking Ryan Murray's wicket with a yorker.
Hasan Ali, 29, has been struggling with injuries and form, which contributed to his exclusion from Pakistan's 15-man squad for the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.
In an effort to reclaim his position in the national T20 side, Ali has been participating in the T20 Blast 2024 for Warwickshire. His performance in the match against Nottinghamshire was notable as he claimed two wickets, playing a key role in Warwickshire's victory.

However, the extent of his rib injury remains undisclosed by the club, with expectations set on his recovery in time for the team's third T20 Blast match against Lancashire on June 7.
Earlier, Ali made a surprise return to Pakistan's squad for the four-match T20I series against England ahead of the T20 World Cup. However, he was released from the squad following Haris Rauf's recovery and return to full fitness, leading Ali to rejoin the English county side.
Meanwhile, Pakistan, having lost the England series 0-2, will be hoping for a positive result when they take on the co-hosts USA to kick off their T20 World Cup campaign on Thursday.
