NEW DELHI: New Zealand batter
Katie Perkins’ dismissal during a tour match against Australia Governor-General's XI on Thursday in Sydney caught everyone by surprise. In fact, Heather Graham, the Australian bowler, who got the wicket was in disbelief herself after completing the catch. Kiwi wicket-keeper
Katey Martin at the non-striker's end was unfortunately the centerpiece of the chaotic and bizarre dismissal.
The incident happened in the 45th over of the New Zealand innings when Perkins tried to hit an over-pitched delivery off Graham straight down the ground. Caught in the line of fire was Perkins’ batting partner Martin at the non-striker's end.
Trying to get out of the way, Martin stuck her bat out and the ball hit her bat and ballooned up in the air. Graham completed the easy catch, but was in shock after witnessing the chain of events.
