NEW DELHI: The on-field umpire, not the players, hogged the limelight during the Melbourne Renegades-Adelaide Strikers Big Bash League (BBL) match on Sunday after his unusual way of deciding an lbw appeal came to the fore.
The amusing incident took place in the 17th over of the Renegades’ run chase when
Rashid Khan hit the pads of
Beau Webster.
Umpire
Greg Davidson, who initially thought of giving out on the appeal of the fielding side, realized that there was bat involved before the ball hit the pads of the batsman.
Changing his mind at the last moment, Davidson instead of giving the decision as out rubbed his nose funnily, declaring that his final decision was in favour of the batsman.

Strikers eventually went on to win the match by 18 runs.
