Gudakesh Motie played a delivery from Sean Abbott towards sweeper cover, managing to run two before attempting a third run. However, confusion arose as Hayden Walsh sent Motie back.

In the match, West Indies, sent in to bat by Australia captain Steve Smith, posted a total of 231.

Keacy Carty and Roston Chase played crucial innings, scoring half-centuries. Debutant Xavier Bartlett shone with the ball, taking four wickets in his debut new-ball spell, including one with his third ball in international cricket.

Carty top-scored for West Indies with 88 off 108 balls, showcasing resilience and determination. However, his bid for a century was cut short by a run-out in the 41st over. Australia's Adam Zampa and Sean Abbott played crucial roles in wrapping up the West Indies innings in the 48th over.

As the focus shifts to the second innings, Australia will aim to chase down the target set by West Indies and take a lead in the three-match ODI series.
