The right-arm bowler Milne was breathing fire with his unplayable deliveries but one incident that stole the limelight left everyone shell shocked. Milne's brute power was on display as he broke SL opener Pathum Nissanka's bat into two pieces.

Nissanka went back in the crease to play the back of length delivery. Ball hit the top of the sticker and the bat's handle came off as Craig McMillan said on air 'disintegrated'.

Milne had taken five wickets for just 26 runs in a man-of-the-match performance as Sri Lanka were skittled for just 141 runs. Tim Seifert (79 not out) then helped steer New Zealand to victory as the hosts hit a rapid-fire 146-1 in reply after 14.4 overs.

New Zealand's victory levelled the series 1-1 ahead of the decider this Saturday in Queenstown.
