NEW DELHI: Barely a month after the elections, the Delhi & District Cricket Association's (DDCA) executive committee has decided to suspend its general secretary Vinod Tihara. In an emergent meeting on Tuesday evening, 11 of the 15 directors decided to withdraw Tihara's powers citing disciplinary reasons.
There was underlying tension between Tihara and president Rajat Sharma after the cricket committee - comprising
Virender Sehwag,
Aakash Chopra and
Rahul Sanghvi - was formed.
Tihara and fellow director Sanjay Bhardwaj had objected to the appointments, citing conflict of interest. They had also objected to the appointment of the selectors, who they said did not qualify as per the Supreme Court-approved Lodha recommendations.
"Tihara has been writing letters and has referred to Sharma as an autocrat and called him other names. He has not been very professional and needs to be served a show-cause," a member of the executive committee told TOI. "The matter will be filed before the ombudsman."
Tihara told TOI, "I will go to court to get my powers restored. The premise of the Lodha report was to be transparent. But all decisions are being taken autocratically."
