Vijay Hazare Trophy: Bowlers help Rajasthan crush Assam

Pitted against Assam in their last Group D game of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Rajasthan steamrolled the last-placed team in some style, registering an eight-wicket win in Chandigarh on Tuesday.
Having already booked a quarterfinal berth, the fixture carried little importance in terms of the match result having an impact on the team’s standing on the points table.
The Deepak Hooda-led side finished unbeaten with 24 points in six games to enter the quarterfinals where they will meet the winner of the pre-quarterfinal match between Maharashtra and Kerala.
Facing Rajasthan bowlers, Assam were completely at sea. Neither any impactful partnership was made, nor came any solo performance. Fast bowlers, Khaleel Ahmed (5-1-21-2), Arafat Khan (7-2-21-3) and Sahil Dhiwan (6-0-26-3), wreaked havoc as Assam folded for 118 in 28.3 overs.
Later, Ram Mohan Chauhan and Abhijeet Tomar finished the proceedings to take Rajasthan home in 24 overs.
