Ton-up Niranjana leads the show for Invaders

CHENNAI: Skipper N Niranjana's unbeaten 102 helped Green Invaders register a 12-run win over Red Rangers in their TNCA Indian Bank women's T20 clash here on Thursday. Niranjana's 66-ball blitz that contained 15 hits to the fence helped Invaders score 138 for 6 in their quota of 20 overs after batting first. In reply, Red Rangers finished on 126 for 7 despite a fighting innings of 48 by B Rashmeka.Rashmeka was well-supported by teammates Shushanthika (20) and S Nevedha (29). For Invaders, Dhanalakshmi shone with bowling figures of 2 for 17.
In a low-scoring clash, White Warriors eased past Yellow Challengers by seven wickets. Taking first strike, Challengers failed to put together a competitive total on board - finishing on a disappointing 75 for 9 from 20 overs. R Radha (3 for 18) and Anusha (3 for 11) were the standout performers for Warriors. In pursuit of a meager target, Warriors crossed the finish line in 17.3 overs with handy contributions from P Thejasree (26), Ashwathi Shankar (24) and V Vilasini (22).
Blue Avengers registered a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Silver Strikers in a low-scoring encounter. Strikers, who made first use of the conditions, failed to come up with a competitive total - ending on 84 for 6 from their stipulated 20 overs. S Pavithra (23) and R Aaisha Bee (21) shone with the bat while P Anusha (3 for 24) and Nida Rehman (2 for 11) put brakes on the scoring rate. Avengers, in reply, won the contest with 5 balls to spare. Yogiyasri (25) and P Anusha (29 n.o.) made it count for the winning team.
