TNCA League: Vignesh, Akshay lead India Pistons' charge

India Pistons' enterprising second-wicket stand of 201 runs between GV Vignesh (133) and Akshay Srinivasan (85 n.o.) helped them score 258 for 2 on the opening day of the TNCA first division Elite clash against Vijay CC at the Guru Nanak College ground.

CHENNAI: India Pistons' enterprising second-wicket stand of 201 runs between GV Vignesh (133) and Akshay Srinivasan (85 n.o.) helped them score 258 for 2 on the opening day of the TNCA first division Elite clash against Vijay CC at the Guru Nanak College ground on Tuesday.
Vignesh's 216-ball essay contained 17 fours and 3 sixes while Akshay's unbeaten knock was studded with six hits to the fence.

In another Elite encounter, Young Stars were 305 for 9 in 90 overs with G Hanuma Vihari (103, 11x4, 1x6) leading the charge against Globe Trotters. Vihari added 134 runs for the fourth wicket with Swaminathan (55, 6x4) in 35.1 overs.
For the Globe Trotters side, pacer Sunil Sam shone with figures of 5 for 91. Nelson, in their match against Grand Slam, were 210 for 1 at close. S Karthik (84 batting, 11x4) and Robin Bist (88 batting, 8x4, 2x6) led the way for Nelson, putting on 140 runs for the unfinished second wicket.
In a Plate League clash, left-arm spinner R Alexander (6 for 48) was the wrecker-in-chief as he helped his side CromBest bowl out TI Cycles for 114 in 51.5 overs. In reply, CromBest were in trouble at 114 for 6.
Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Vignesh (5 for 58) shone for AG' Office as they restricted Alwarpet to 175 in 57 overs. For the batting team, Abhishek Tanwar top-scored with an unbeaten 63. In reply, AG's Office were placed at 98 for 3. Alwarpet's Abhishek returned with figures of 2 for 18.
