TNCA League: Rajwinder bowls India Pistons to innings win

CHENNAI: Left-arm spinner Rajwinder Singh (5 for 23) led the show with the ball as India Pistons defeated CromBest by an innings and 37 runs on Day 2 of their TNCA first division clash on Sunday.


Having restricted CromBest to 148 in their opening essay, India Pistons finished on 264 and grabbed a 116-run lead in the first innings. A Venkatesh (85 n.o.) and

(38) were the chief contributors for India Pistons.

In their second innings, CromBest folded up for just 79 with Rajwinder leading the charge. Apart from Rajwinder - who bagged his first five-wicket haul of the season - Harish Kumar too returned with figures of 3 for 19.

Jolly Rovers, in their match against Vijay CC, were comfortably placed at 188 for 1 at stumps. Smit Patel (85 batting) and B Aparajith (86 batting) were in the middle after having added 175 runs for their unfinished second wicket stand.

Earlier, Vijay CC concluded their first innings on 275. Left-arm spinner DT Chandrasekar was the wrecker-in-chief as he bagged 6 for 74. For the batting side, KB Arun Karthick (69), G Rahul Singh (74) topped the batting charts.

In their clash against Young Stars, Grand Slam were 78 for no loss in their second innings. After having restricted Grand Slam to 169 in the first innings, Young Stars ended on 222 with M Abhinav (5 for 55) being the star of the show. This was Abhinav’s third five-wicket haul in the season.

Other notable performances came from offie Shoaib Md Khan (5-16 for Nelson), Nilesh Subramanian (119 for MCC) and Anand Subramanian (131 for Nelson).
