Southee reached the landmark, with Abbas Afridi becoming his 150th victim in T20Is. Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan (140) holds the second spot, followed by Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan (130) and Kiwi spinner Ish Sodhi (127).

Having made his T20I debut in 2008, Southee currently boasts 746 international wickets, including over 350 in the Test format. In the match against Pakistan, Southee showcased his skills by dismissing Mohammad Rizwan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Abbas Afridi, and Haris Rauf during Pakistan's chase of 227.

With clinical performances from Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, and Southee, New Zealand secured a comprehensive 46-run victory against Pakistan in the first T20I of the five-match series.

Mitchell and captain Williamson both scored half-centuries, helping the Kiwis post a formidable total. Although Pakistan showed promise in their run chase for a brief period, they ultimately lost momentum and fell short by 46 runs.

  • Shakib Al Hasan - 140
