helped

Bank of India

(BOI) trounce Reserve Bank of India (RBI) by 63 runs in the final of the

Inter-Bank

Cricket ('A' Institution Zone) tournament at the Central Railway Ajni ground here on Monday.

The annual tourney was organized by the Bankers Sports Council in which all the bank teams participated.

RBI captain Parimal Hedaoo won the toss and opted to field. The decision backfired as BOI piled up a huge score of 202 for the loss of six wickets in their stipulated 20 overs.

Thakre led the run charge with a brilliant knock of 59 runs. Opener Vikram Singh (44), last match hero Tushar Shukla (25) and Shishir Lambe (22) played aggressively to take the team's score beyond 200-run mark. For RBI, Kapish Nahak, Alhad Gunjal, Elvis Jangam and Niraj Gawande took a wicket each.

Chasing a challenging target, RBI lost wickets initially and could not recover thereafter. Niraj Gawande was the top-scorer with 38. Southpaw Hedaoo fought hard and remained unbeaten on 33. BOI left-arm spinner Umesh Shastri bowled well to return with 3 for 17 in his three-over spell. Vishal Thakre, Akshay Fadnavis and Pratik Thool bagged a wicket each to restrict the opposition.

Bank of India captain Samir Gujar sounded satisfied with the performance of the team after the triumph.

Yogesh Chandurkar
