Sri Lanka's cricket board has selected former South African batsman Neil McKenzie to be a consultant coach. The announcement came on Tuesday before Sri Lanka’s Test tour of South Africa.
The 48 year-old former Proteas right-handed batter will begin working with the Sri Lankan players on Wednesday for a little over a week.
During McKenzie's career, he shared a 415-run stand with Graeme Smith in a match against Bangladesh. It occurred in 2008 and was the highest-ever opening partnership in Test history.
“McKenzie will bring in vital, in-depth insights about the South African conditions to help Sri Lankan players adapt to the challenge.”
Ashley de Silva, the board's chief, made the statement. The two-Test series will begin on November 27th. The second match will start on December 5th.
