Shoaib Khan shines for Nelson

CHENNAI: Shoaib Md Khan shone with the ball bagging figures of seven for 104 as Nelson bowled out Young Stars for 274 on Day 1 of their TNCA first division Elite clash at SSN College ground here on Monday. For Young Stars, Ganesh Satish (66), Rohit (65) and B Goutham (52) made handy contributions with the bat.
At Guru Nanak College ground, S Abishiek led the show with 159-ball 102 for Vijay CC as they finished the opening day on 297 for 5 in their Elite clash against Grand Slam.Abishiek's knock contained 14 fours and 2 sixes. KB Arun Karthick was the other notable contributor, hitting an unbeaten 94 that had 9 boundaries and a solitary six.
In a Plate match, Swapnil Gugale (103, 13x4, 1x6) was the leading scorer for Alwarpet as they were placed at 234 for 5 in their match against Jolly Rovers at IIT Chemplast Ground. Ashwin Venkataraman played a handy knock of 39. For Jolly Rovers, J Kaushik (2 for 31) and R Aushik Srinivas (2 for 59) made it count with the ball.
Off-spinner AC Prathiban (6 for 49) was the wrecker-in-chief for AG's Office in their contest against TI Cycles. Batting first, TI Cycles managed just 144 in 46.2 overs with Prathiban running through the batting line-up. In reply, AG's Office were struggling at 107 for 7. Varun Sood (4 for 32) and Sanjay Yadav (3 for 36) kept it tight for TI Cycles.
