NEW DELHI: Legendary Indian cricketer
Sachin Tendulkar has dismissed speculation linking him to the post of BCCI president, with his management company issuing a categorical denial on Thursday.

SUBSCRIBE NOW!In a strongly worded clarification, SRT Sports Management Pvt Ltd said: “It has come to our attention that certain reports and rumours have been circulating regarding Mr. Sachin Tendulkar being considered, or nominated, for the position of President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). We wish to categorically state that no such development has taken place. We urge all concerned to refrain from giving credence to unfounded speculations.”
The clarification comes amid a swirl of rumours ahead of the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for September 28, where elections will be held for several posts, including that of the board’s president and the
Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman.
The top post has been lying vacant following the exit of
Roger Binny, who stepped down earlier this month after turning 70. Meanwhile, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal may also have to go into a mandatory cooling-off period after completing six years in administrative roles.
However, barring the president’s position, most other office-bearers are expected to continue. Devajit Saikia, the current secretary, is set to remain in charge, having earlier replaced Jay Shah after Shah took over as ICC chairman. Joint secretary Rohan Gauns Desai and treasurer Prabhtej Bhatia are also likely to retain their posts.
Binny, who became
BCCI president in October 2022, was initially expected to continue until the AGM. With the position now open, speculation has been rife. But Tendulkar’s statement has drawn a clear line under the rumours, reaffirming that the former batting maestro is not in the fray.
