A short video clip posted by
Mumbai Indians on Wednesday sent social media buzzing, with fans speculating whether
Rohit Sharma had already resumed training ahead of India’s upcoming assignments.
In the footage, the star opener could be seen batting in the nets, dressed in the familiar Mumbai Indians practice kit at Wankhede Stadium.
The timing of the post, just hours before India’s Asia Cup opener against UAE, fueled curiosity about whether Rohit was quietly preparing for the Australia tour later this year.
However, it is understood that the clip is not recent.
The footage dates back to the 2025 IPL season and was part of the franchise’s archival content. While it may have raised eyebrows, Rohit is not currently training at Wankhede Stadium but has been steadily working on his fitness with the national setup.
Only a few days earlier, Rohit’s late-night visit to Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai had triggered fresh waves of concern among fans. Although no official explanation was provided, messages of support poured in online. More reassuringly, Rohit recently cleared a fitness test at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, confirming his readiness to return to international duty.

The veteran opener has been away from international cricket since India’s ICC Champions Trophy triumph earlier this year.
He announced his retirement from Test cricket in May, ending a distinguished career of 67 matches with 12 centuries and over 4,300 runs, highlighted by a career-best 212.
