Pant was the only Indian batsman to aggregate over 200 runs during the embarrassing 0-3 whitewash against New Zealand at home. He scored three half-centuries.

As a result, the 27-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman moved up to the sixth spot after just five Tests since his return to red-ball cricket after a horrific car accident in December 2022.

He aggregated 261 runs in six innings against New Zealand at an average of 43.50, including three half-centuries and a highest of 99.

Before that, he scored 161 runs in two Tests against Bangladesh at an average of 53.66, marking his return to Test cricket with a century.

New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell, who scored 82 in the first innings of the Mumbai Test also benefited, rising eight places to be right behind Pant at number seven.

Leading the table is England's Joe Root, followed by Kane Williamson, Harry Brook, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Steve Smith respectively.

Shubman Gill, who made 90 in the first innings of the Mumbai Test, also made a gain of four places to sit at number 16.
