Ranji Trophy: Sarfaraz Khan hospitalised due to fever; doubtful for Karnataka match

MUMBAI: In-form batter Sarfaraz Khan has been hospitalized due to viral fever and is in doubt for the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal encounter against Karnataka, which starts from Friday at the MCA ground in BKC, TOI has learnt.

“Sarfaraz has viral fever and has been hospitalized. He is unwell and thats why he couldn't come out to field also in Mumbai's last match against Delhi. At the moment, its unclear if Sarfaraz will recover in time for the Karnataka match,” a source told this paper.

On Wednesday, Sarfaraz was with the Mumbai team when the legendary Sachin Tendulkar held a special interactive session with the side.



Troubled by a hamstring problem, Sarfaraz was out for a 27-ball 24 in the first innings against Delhi.

Sarfaraz's absence will be a big blow for Mumbai. Carrying forward his blazing form in white-ball cricket, In the league stage, the middle-order batsman had smashed 227 off 219 balls against Hyderabad in Hyderabad. The 28-year-old had also completed his 5,000 first-class matches during that knock.
