NEW DELHI: Red-hot Karun Nair smashed an unbeaten ton, guiding Vidarbha to 264 for six against Tamil Nadu on day one of their Ranji Trophy quarterfinal in Nagpur.
The 33-year-old reached his 22nd first-class century, continuing his impressive run that includes a recent hundred against Hyderabad and four consecutive centuries in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Vidarbha's decision to bat first initially backfired as they lost three quick wickets, stumbling to 44 for 3.
Danish Malewar joined Nair at the crease, and together they steadied the innings.
The pair constructed a vital 98-run partnership for the fourth wicket, taking the score to 142 and helping Vidarbha recover from their early setback.
Malewar's innings of 75, which included 13 boundaries, came to an end when M Mohammed caught him off Vijay Shankar's bowling in the 47th over.
After Malewar's dismissal, Nair continued to anchor the innings, building a 64-run partnership with Akshay Wadkar, who contributed 24 runs.
Nair reached his fifty with a boundary off Sai Kishore's bowling and later completed his century with a single against S Ajith Ram in the 86th over.
At the close of play, Nair remained unbeaten with Harsh Dubey, who was on 19 not out.
Tamil Nadu's bowling effort was led by Vijay Shankar, who claimed two wickets for 50 runs. The other wicket-takers included M Mohammed (1/50), Sonu Yadav (1/55), S Ajith Ram (1/50), and Mohammed Ali (1/16).
