NEW DELHI: Rain forced a delay in the commencement of the second one-day international (ODI) between England and New Zealand at Southampton on Sunday, which was initially scheduled for 11:00 am local time (1000 GMT).

The toss had yet to happen due to light showers at the Rose Bowl. England, the reigning 50-over world champions, were eager to even the four-match series at 1-1, following New Zealand's convincing eight-wicket victory in Cardiff on Friday.

England are poised to make a lineup adjustment as batter Dawid Malan is currently with his wife, who gave birth to their son on Saturday.

This series is an integral part of both teams' preparations for the upcoming World Cup in India next month.

England seek to defend the title they secured in a thrilling Super Over final against New Zealand at Lord's four years ago.
