CHENNAI: Haryana registered a six-wicket win over Pondicherry in their Syed Mushtaq Ali Group D clash in Mumbai on Thursday. This was Pondy's second loss in 5 games in the competition and they are on 10 points.

After being inserted in, Pondy were bowled out for 114 in their quota of 20 overs. The D Rohit-led side didn't have the best of starts - and were struggling at 31 for 4 in the 7th over.

Paras Dogra (17) and Subramanian Anand (22) offered some resistance but it didn't last long. Despite cameos by Sagar Trivedi (17) and Fabid Ahmed (20), Pondy finished with a below par total. For Haryana, medium-pacers - Ashish Hooda (3 for 22) and Harshal Patel (3 for 14) were the chief destroyers.

In reply, Haryana got off to a fiery start with

Chaitanya Bishnoi

(33, 4x4, 2x6) and Harshal (16, 3x4) adding 50 in 5.4 overs. Fabid put brakes on Haryana's scoring by dismissing the Haryana openers.

However, a steady 47-run stand for the third wicket between Treyaksh Bali (17) and Guntashveer Singh (37) ensured Haryana remained in the chase. Despite losing Treyaksh and Guntashveer, Haryana crossed the finish line in 15.1 overs. Pondicherry will play Assam next on Friday.

Brief scores: Pondicherry 114 all out in 20 overs (S Anand 22, Fabid Ahmed 20; A Hooda 3 for 22, Harshal Patel 3 for 14). Haryana 115 for 4 in 15.1 overs (Chaitanya Bishnoi 33, Guntashveer Singh 37; Fabid Ahmed 2 for 8). Haryana won by 6 wickets
