Musheer Khan once again proved his growing reputation as the next big thing in Indian cricket with a century when all seemed lost for India B in their first-round match of the Duleep Trophy against India A in Bengaluru.
Put in to bat first, India B found themselves in a hole at 94 for 7 when tailender Navdeep Saini joined Musheer in the middle. It started a rearguard action that grew into a huge eighth-wicket partnership producing 205 runs.
Musheer's knock included 16 fours and 5 sixes, one of which was a pull shot behind square and reminded of India captain Rohit Sharma.
It was the second ball of the 91st over when he pulled pacer Avesh Khan for a maximum.
WATCH THE PULL SHOTBefore Musheer was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav in the 111th over of India B's innings, he hit the spinner for a massive six that hit the roof of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium before ricocheting back onto the ground.
WATCH THE SIX HITTING THE ROOFMusheer went on to score 181 before he was dismissed by Yadav. Saini made 56.
India B's innings ended at 321 in the post-lunch session on Day 2.
Rohit, Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are not playing the Duleep Trophy, while Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan have been ruled out of the first-round matches because of injuries.
