NEW DELHI: The Delhi and District Cricket Association (
DDCA) on Saturday decided to replace the selection panel set up by former HC chief justice Mukul Mudgal. In an emergent meeting, the sports working committee roped in national selector
Sarandeep Singh,
Rakesh Shukla and
Robin Singh at the expense of
Nikhil Chopra,
Atul Wassan and Maninder Singh.
In a release signed by convenor of sports working committee Vinod Tihara, it was cited the incumbent selectors failed to give an undertaking saying they are clear of any conflict of interest.
It is interesting that the board had set an age cap of 60 for selectors and Shukla is well past that cap. It is understood that none of the axed selectors and the one hired were informed on Saturday. One of the top DDCA officials told TOI: "Unless Justice Mudgal objects to this, the newly-appointed selectors will pick the Delhi team for the next Ranji match."
I am not authorized to register players: KhannaBCCI and DDCA vice-president CK Khanna said on Saturday that he is not authorised to register Under-23 players and that the delay was not due to his negligence.
