NEW DELHI: "Main pal do pal ka shayar hoon. Pal do pal meri kahani hai" - India's beloved 'Captain Cool' Mahendra Singh Dhoni used an emotional song to say adios to international cricket on Saturday in a poetic way.


Former India skipper used the famous

Bollywood

song while posting a cryptic message as his retirement announcement to his 26.5 million Instagram followers and cricket lovers at large.



The melody sung by legendary singer Mukesh was picturised on screen to megastar Amitabh Bachchan in the popular cult movie -- Kabhie Kabhie.



Dhoni used his playing days' photos as a montage with the song playing on the background in his 4 minutes 7 seconds long video, and wrote: "Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout. From 1929 hrs consider me as Retired"



As captain, Dhoni led India to the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup title in 2007 and then made history by leading the Indian team to the 50-overs World Cup on home soil in 2011.

Dhoni ended his ODI career having played 350 matches, scoring 10,773 runs and effecting 444 dismissals. He holds the record for most dismissals in T20 internationals with 91 in 98 matches.

He is the only international captain to have won all three ICC trophies (T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup and Champions Trophy).
